spend, pay , take与cost这四个词都有“花费”之意。

spend：指花费时间和金钱。只能用人作主语，有被动语态。常用结构：某人+spend (s) +时间/金钱+ on sth./ (in) doing sth.如:She spent 600 dollars on the watch.她买这块手表花了600美元。

pay：指支付金钱和感情的回报。只能用人作主语。常用结构：某人+pay(s) +金钱 +for sth.。如：Accommodation is free - all you pay for is breakfast and dinner.住宿免费---你只需付早餐和晚餐的钱。

take：指花费时间和力气，一般只用it作形式主语(事物作主语)。常用结构：It+ takes+某人+时间/金钱+to do sth.。如：It took me an hour to come here.到这里来花了我一个小时。

cost：指花费时间、金钱、精力等，只能用事物作主语且无被动语态。常用结构：sth.+cost(s) +某人+时间/金钱。如：The total cost of this picnic was about 200 yuan.这次野餐的全部费用大约200元。
